Stilt fishing is one of the most interesting traditional fishing methods used by fishermen in Vietnam. Records indicate that it was first used over hundreds of years ago.

Though Vietnamese stilt fishermen make it look easy and comfortable, stilt fishing requires a great deal of skill and balance, stilt walking often being seen in the circus.

A bamboo pole is attached to the fishermen’s legs, allowing them to move around muddy beaches and stand above the water level.

The fishermen use a v-shaped net to catch spotted herring and small mackerel from the shallows. They collect their catch in inner bag.

In keeping with our concerns about the environment, we carefully considered the type of wood for our mouldings. Over 90% of our exhibition frame mouldings produced from the hardwood Triplochiton Scleroxylon commonly known as African Maple or Ayous.

This wood species from the Sterculiaceae family is manufactured into moulding in Italy and is our choice since it stable, and most importantly is not listed in the CITES Appendices, and is reported by the IUCN as being a species of least concern.
