This exhibition features highlights from some of his many projects, including Eye to Eye, intimate portraits of animals that reveal the kinship of all life on earth; Into Africa, an enduring vision of the African continent and what is at stake for its natural heritage; and LIFE, A Journey Through Time, a lyrical interpretation of the history of life on earth from the Big Bang to the present.
Lanting’s work reveals the unique personal aesthetic he brings to photography and the startling new perspective on wildlife and wild places his images provoke. “No photographer turns animals into art more completely than Frans Lanting,” writes The New Yorker. His fine art prints are represented in many public and private collections, and he has had more than one hundred solo exhibitions at museums and galleries around the world.
Frans Lanting has been hailed as one of the great photographers of our time. For four decades, he has documented the natural world from the Amazon to Antarctica to promote understanding about the earth through images that convey a passion for nature and a concern for the future of our living planet.
Lanting has received many honors for his work. H.R.H. Prince Bernhard has inducted him as a Knight in the Royal Order of the Golden Ark, the Netherlands’ highest conservation honor. Lanting’s mission is to use photography to help create leverage for conservation efforts ranging from local initiatives to global campaigns.
